Every
Valentine’s Day for the past ten years or so, I have a special
tradition—writing love letters to my future husband. It began in high school
and has become a meaningful memory.
Each time the holiday rolls around in all its red-hearted, chocolate-filled glory, I have been single—still waiting for the sweetheart that God may bring.
I’m still waiting and I’m okay with it. You see there’s something I know.
God’s ways are not our ways and I won’t settle for my plans. God’s plans for my life are so worth waiting on and if He has someone out there for me then I am waiting on His timing.
When I write these letters each V-Day, I am reminded that God has already written the greatest love letter to me—to all of us. It is through His Word, the Bible. The Scripture is filled with a love story spanning centuries and more passionate and pure than we could ever experience through a relationship here on Earth.
So whether you are in a time of singleness or marriage, I challenge each one of us to not only write a love letter to our spouse today but to write one to our Lord, the Lover and Savior of our soul, to thank Him for the ultimate sacrifice—dying for our love and salvation.
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” – Ephesians 2:4-5
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” – John 3: 16-17
Have you written love letters to someone, to God? Do you have a special Valentine’s Day tradition? I would love to hear about it.

Morgan, I love this idea of writing a love letter to your maybe-someday-husband. :) I also love what you shared about God's love letter to us. I do write love letters to my husband, but it's usually more around our anniversary time.
We usually go out to dinner--somewhere nice. And it's not often on February 14th that we get to celebrate. I feel like every day is Valentine's Day with my honey.
Hi, I'm a first-time visitor and so glad to meet you. Your Valentine post really resonated with me. I married for the first time at age 39. Though our marriage is far from perfect, it was worth the wait. During my single days, I clung to the verse in Isaiah 54 that says Your maker is your husband ... and he'll always be there for us.
Hugs ~ Mary
Jeanne, thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your Valentine's Day with us. Hope you enjoy a very nice dinner with your hubby.
Hi, Mary! I'm so glad you found us. Morgan's post is beautifully written, and I'm so glad to have her as today's Valentine's guest. Thanks for sharing the Isaiah 54 passage. (The best things usually ar worth waiting for -- smile!)
I came over to the blog via Morgan's comment on Jeanne's blog. And I'm glad I did.
Love is worth the wait. I know women who went with "Mr. Almost Right" because they were tired of waiting for "Mr. Right."
Regret followed soon after.
I love Morgan's letter-writing tradition too. Her future husband will be blessed.
Morgan, what a cutie you are! I love that idea! And love letter to God, whew, where to start? I see you're from LA-I was raised there and half of my family is still there. I'll check out your site. Whoo Hoo!
Lovely post, Morgan. You are right on so many levels. God bless!
Hi everyone! Thanks so much for stopping in and commenting! :) And Johnnie, thank you for letting me be your guest today!
Jeanne, I think it's great that you write your husband love letters and even more that each day feels like V-Day with him. What a gift from God! :)
Mary, thanks so much for sharing that verse and a bit of your story! It's inspiring to me! :)
Beth, I am so glad you did stop by today! You are totally right. It's so easy to "fall" for "Mr. Almost Right" even if he is a Christian guy. He just may not be the one God has for you. Thanks for the encouragement.
Hi Karen! Thanks so much for stopping in and commenting! A fellow Louisiana girl! woohoo! Please check out my site and let's stay in touch.
Hi Carole! Thanks so much and thanks for stopping by. :)
I hope you all have a great V-Day!
And...thanks Johnnie for saying my post was beautifully written. :) That means so much to me!
